School Holiday Declared in Karnataka’s Shivamogga Due to Heavy Rains, Check When Classes Will Reopen

Karnataka School Holiday: Because of the ongoing rains in Karnataka, a holiday for schools has been declared for July 16 in Hosanagara taluk in Karnataka’s Shivamogga. Hosanagara Tehsildar Rashmi Halessh issued the notification for the closure of schools and warned people to exercise caution. Schools are likely to open after July 17.
Apart from this, another holiday has also been declared for schools in four taluks in the Malnad regions of Hassan district on Tuesday.
The Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) of Hassan district issued the notification for the holiday for all government, aided, and unaided primary and high schools in the taluks of Hassan, Alur, Sakleshpur, and Arakalagudu. The development comes as Karnataka is witnessing heavy rainfall In the last one week.
On Monday, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Uttara Kannada district Laxmipriya declared a holiday for all schools and PU colleges in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Sirsi, Siddapur, Yellapur, Dandeli, and Joida taluks after a ‘red alert’ was issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Apart from this, the IMD also issued a heavy rain and red alert for Uttara Kannada district from 1 pm on July 14 to 8:30 pm on July 16.
As per the weather office, heavy rainfall is expected to continue over coastal Karnataka, Malnad districts, and parts of interior Karnataka until July 16.
