AICTE Doctoral Fellowship: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Chairman Prof. T G Sitaram has launched the AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) scheme for the academic year 2024-25. Its objective is to promote the culture and knowledge of research and innovation by developing a supportive ecosystem in approved institutions.

Through this scheme, the possibility of start-ups will be enhanced by financially supporting and promoting collaborative, high-quality, and peer-reviewed research between technical institutions and industry. Apart from this, researchers will be helped to enhance their academic qualifications to benefit the education world.

Researchers can apply for this scholarship directly or through their respective universities. They will be provided this scholarship through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT).

Students of these subjects will also get a scholarship
This scheme is for several broad research areas of Engineering and Technology, Management, Design, Planning, Applied Arts, Crafts and Design, Applied Science, Hotel Management and Catering Technology.
The scheme is being run in two categories. As per the guidelines of the scheme under Category A, researchers can register directly through the AICTE ADF portal. For this, the applicant will have to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from his university.

Under Category B, universities can admit students to their PhD program as per their procedure by registering under this scheme. To ensure quality in PhD research, the AICTE Evaluation Committee will evaluate the research proposals of applicants of both categories.

How many scholarships will be given?
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will get Rs 37,000 and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) will get Rs 42,000 per month. JRF can be upgraded to SRF after completing two years from the start of their ADF. It is worth noting that the duration of the fellowship is a maximum of five years.

Who can apply?
Only those candidates can apply for who are PhD students in departments like Engineering and Technology, Management, Design, Planning, Applied Arts, Crafts, Design, or Computer Applications. All these programs should be AICTE-approved at the post graduate level.

Candidates having graduated in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from an AICTE-approved institute and Master’s degree in the relevant field are also eligible to apply for this.

Postgraduate students in Applied Science, who are taking admission or have already been admission to PhD program in an AICTE-approved institute, are also eligible to apply for this scheme.

Age Limit: The age limit of applicants of both categories has been kept below 30 years. Age relaxation will be given as per government norms.
