New Maruti Fronx to Offer 40km Mileage with Advanced Technology Features
As the demand for electric cars in India continues to rise, Maruti Suzuki is taking a different approach by focusing on hybrid technology. Hybrid cars, which run on both petrol and a small battery, offer impressive fuel efficiency by combining the power of traditional fuel with the benefits of electric technology. This combination provides such high mileage that it might reduce the need for CNG and fully electric vehicles.
Maruti’s Hybrid Line-Up
Maruti Suzuki already has a range of cars equipped with hybrid technology, from micro-hybrid to strong hybrid systems. The company is now looking to dominate this segment by preparing to launch its popular SUV, the Fronx, with hybrid technology.
Expected to Lead in Fuel Efficiency
The new Fronx is anticipated to become the most fuel-efficient car in India. It is expected to be launched either during this year’s festive season or early next year. Since its launch over 10 months ago, the Fronx has sold more than 137,000 units, underscoring its popularity in the Indian market.
The Hybrid Engine
The new Fronx will be powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder hybrid engine from the Z12E series. This engine, which also powers the new Swift and is expected to be included in the upcoming Dzire, offers an estimated mileage of 40 kilometers per liter (combined fuel and hybrid mode). However, it’s important to note that the hybrid technology is not yet available in the Swift.
Potential Price Increase
Currently, the Maruti Fronx is available with both petrol and CNG options, with prices in Delhi ranging from ₹7.51 lakh to ₹12.87 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the addition of hybrid technology is likely to increase the price slightly. Let’s take a closer look at the features that make the Fronx stand out.
Powerful Engines in the Fronx
The Maruti Fronx, currently available without a hybrid engine, offers two engine options: a 1.2L K-Series Advanced Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol engine, and a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine. These engines are paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Additionally, the car comes with a Start-Stop technology for enhanced fuel efficiency. The Fronx is also available in a CNG variant, offering a mileage of 28.51 kilometers per kilogram.
Spacious Interior
The Fronx offers ample space for up to five passengers, making it an excellent choice for families. It boasts 308 liters of boot space, and with the rear seats folded down, even more storage is available. The car measures 3995 mm in length, 1765 mm in width, and 1550 mm in height.
Feature-Rich Cabin
The Fronx’s cabin is well-designed with high-quality materials and a long list of features. For safety, it includes an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and up to six airbags. The car also offers a 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charger, a 9-inch HD Smart Play Pro Plus infotainment system, and connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Tax Benefits for Armed Forces
Maruti Fronx has recently become available tax-free, but this benefit is exclusive to members of the Indian Armed Forces through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD). On CSD, soldiers are required to pay only 14% GST instead of the usual 28%. However, only five variants of the Fronx are available through CSD.
These variants include the standard petrol manual, standard petrol automatic, and turbo petrol options. For example, the Sigma variant, which is priced at ₹7,51,500 in the general market, is available for ₹6,51,665 on CSD. The Fronx is not only a fuel-efficient vehicle but also a stylish SUV, making it a great choice for those looking to combine style with practicality.
