England Vs Australia 2024: THIS Kolkata Knight Riders Batter To Captain English Team As Jos Buttler Is Ruled Out

Former T20 World Cup champions England have suffered a big blow ahead of their limited-overs series against Australia later this month as skipper Jos Buttler has been ruled of the T20I series which begins on September 11 in Southampton. Buttler will miss the three-match T20I series due to calf injury and might be forced to miss the five-match ODI series from September 19 as well.
In Buttler’s absence, the England team will be led by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt. Buttler will be replaced by Jamie Overton in the T20I squad. Salt was Buttler’s deputy in the Manchester Originals team in the recently concluded ‘The Hundred’ tournament.
Rajasthan Royals opener Buttler has been out since July because of the injury and England said in a statement he has had a ‘setback’ in his recovery. The three-match T20 series with Australia begins on Wednesday.

Essex batter Jordan Cox has been added to the ODI squad as cover for Buttler. The five-match ODI series is scheduled to start on 19 September at Trent Bridge.
England has already started blooding a new generation of leaders this summer, with Ben Stokes’ torn hamstring allowing Ollie Pope to take charge of the ongoing test series against Sri Lanka.
Salt was in top form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 which culminated in the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise winning the title earlier this year. The English batter notched up 435 runs in 12 matches with 4 fifties and a strike-rate of 182.01 in IPL 2024 for Shreyas Iyer’s side.
