Anushka Sharma on Her Parenting Approach with Vamika and Akaay: ‘So Much Pressure’

After the birth of son Akaay, actor Anushka Sharma made a public appearance on Wednesday as she returned to Mumbai from London to attend an event. She expressed her happiness to be in Mumbai and reconnected with her fans and media. From talking about motherhood to cherishing her college memories, the star happily answered several questions. She also talked about her comfort food which is none other than dal chawal and aloo. “Anything that my mother made while we growing up was my comfort food. One thing I always go back to and when I am not feeling great, which is an instant pick-me-up, is dal chawal and sukhi aloo ki sabzi — all in one plate. Love it!” she shared.

Anushka also gave insights into her parenting approach with their children, Vamika and Akaay. “There is so much pressure to be this perfect parent,” Anushka continued. “But we’re not perfect, and that’s okay. We’ll complain about things, and it’s fine to admit it in front of our kids, so they know we’re flawed.”

Anushka further talked about giving values to kids indirectly. “My daughter is very young, and I don’t think I can teach her anything directly. It’s more about how we live our lives. Are we showing gratitude to others in our daily life? That’s what children learn from,” Anushka said. She believes that children pick up on their surroundings and follow what they observe. “For them to learn gratitude, they have to see you being grateful”, she concluded.
