IPL 2025: After Ab de Villiers, Ashwin reveals the name of RCB captain, also talks about the presence of Bhuvneshwar-Hazlewood
New Delhi: Veteran Indian team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reveals the new captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He claimed that Virat Kohli can be seen as leading RCB in the upcoming edition. Let us tell you that before Ashwin, former South African captain AB de Villiers had given a statement in support of Virat Kohli. He said that King Kohli can be seen leading RCB in IPL 2025.
Virat Kohli will lead RCB!
RCB was expected to bid on KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer in the mega auction. These three players were contenders for the captaincy. But RCB did not put much emphasis on them. Now Ashwin has claimed that Virat Kohli can be seen leading the team. He said- There is every possibility that Virat Kohli will captain that team (RCB). I feel this way because they have not chosen any name for the captain. Unless they make someone else the captain. I do not see anyone else other than Virat as the captain. Before the mega auction, RCB had released Faf du Plessis. At the same time, the team did not use RTM for him in the mega auction as well. In this situation, the team will now be seen playing under the leadership of the new captain.
Ravichandran Ashwin supports RCB:
RCB had retained three players before the mega auction. These include Virat Kohli (21 crores), Rajat Patidar (11 crores) and Yash Dayal (four crores). At the same time, the franchise bid on 19 other players in the auction and spent 82.25 crores. Now Ashwin has supported the team management. He said- I personally feel that their auction was great. They maintained a balance and waited. Many teams came to this auction with many crores of rupees. They were performing brilliantly from the beginning, but RCB played the waiting game even though they had a lot of money. Who do I need? They are the ones I need. My whole team is important. My 12 or 14 are important.
Ashwin is happy with RCB’s bowling attack:
RCB spent crores of rupees to strengthen their bowling attack in the auction held in Jeddah. The franchise bought Hazelwood for 12.50 crores and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 10.75 crores. Ashwin supported this decision of the team management. He said- I said that their team is looking very good this year, and the reason for this is Hazelwood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and (Yash) Dayal. They have invested in excellent bowling. Their bowling attack looks strong.
