NDA / NA Exam
One can become an officer in the Indian Navy by passing 12th. For this, the Union Public Service Commission examines the National Defense Academy course twice a year. After the written examination, there is an SSB interview. The age limit for the NDA exam is 16 and a half years to 19 years. To appear in this exam, one must have passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
10+2 BTech Cadet Entry Scheme
The second way to get recruited in the Navy is the 10+2 BTech Cadet Entry Scheme. Those who get good ranks in the JEE Main exam are included in this. On recruitment through this scheme, there is a four-year training at the Naval Academy Ezhimala (Kerala). After completion of the training, one gets a job at the officer rank and a BTech degree. Through this scheme, one becomes an officer in the Education Branch and Executive and Technical Branch in the Navy. For the 10+2 BTech Cadet Entry Scheme, one must pass 12th Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with 70% marks. Along with this, passing the JEE Main is also a must. The call for the SSB interview comes based on the JEE Main rank. Therefore, if you have a good rank in JEE, then consider it certain that you will get a chance to give the SSB interview.
Opportunity to become a Navy Agniveer
One can also get recruited in the Navy as an Agniveer after passing 12th. The age limit for this is 17 and a half years to 21 years. To become an Agniveer in the Navy, you must pass 12th with at least 50% marks in Mathematics and Physics. Candidates taking the 12th exam will also be able to apply for this.
Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET)/Normalization
Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) is also an officer entry scheme. Through this, both permanent and short service commissions is available in the Navy. INET is organized twice a year. Application for this can be made by visiting the Navy website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. This exam is conducted in online mode. Candidates who pass the written exam are called for SSB interview.
