Hyundai To Discontinue I30 N And I20 N Models In Europe, Aiming For Sustainability
In a significant shift towards sustainability, Hyundai has announced the cessation of the Hyundai i30 N and i20 N models for the European market.
This decision underscores the company’s dedication to achieving a future with zero tailpipe emissions. This move comes at a time when Hyundai is preparing to launch the Ioniq 5 N, an electric vehicle (EV), emphasizing its commitment to an environmentally friendly vehicle lineup.
The South Korean automotive giant has set ambitious goals for itself, aiming to offer a fully zero-emission vehicle lineup by 2035, and reaching 100% carbon neutrality by 2045. The discontinuation of these petrol-powered models is a testament to Hyundai’s proactive approach in adapting to the evolving demands of the automotive industry, which is increasingly leaning towards electric mobility and sustainable practices.
Hyundai’s Evolution and Future Plans
Introduced in 2017, the i30 N marked Hyundai’s entry into the competitive hot hatch market. It quickly gained popularity for its exceptional chassis and powerful turbocharged engine. The model saw enhancements in 2021, including the addition of a dual-clutch transmission and an increase in power.
Following the success of the i30 N, Hyundai launched the i20 N in 2021, targeting the mini-segment. Despite its compact size, low weight, and dynamic performance, the i20 N did not achieve the same level of sales success as its larger counterpart.
