Deadline to update FASTag KYC extended to March 31: Check process and key details
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has granted an extension to the compliance deadline for the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative until March 31, 2024. This decision was made in consideration of the challenges faced by users of Paytm FASTag.
Consequently, FASTag users now have an additional month to fulfill the know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.
Originally scheduled to be implemented on March 1, the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative seeks to enhance toll collection efficiency through radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, enabling automatic deduction of toll tax payments from linked bank accounts.
NHAI underscores the importance of timely KYC updates to ensure a seamless toll payment experience on national highways.
Whether owning commercial or private vehicles, individuals must take immediate action to prevent any disruptions in the electronic toll collection system.
To update KYC details, vehicle owners need to submit specific documents, including the vehicle registration certificate, driver’s license, and identity proof such as PAN or voter’s ID card.
Additionally, address proof such as Aadhaar card, passport, and passport-size photographs are required. The KYC update can be completed by visiting the official website of the bank-linked or issuing authority, logging in with the registered mobile number, navigating to the ‘My Profile’ section, clicking on the ‘KYC’ sub-section, and updating all necessary fields by attaching the mandatory documents.
