Mystery of Worli Seaface: Maharashtra Police pursue 112 missing girls in search for unidentified body
In a perplexing case that has gripped investigators, the Maharashtra police have delved into the records of 112 missing girls in a bid to unravel the identity of a girl whose body was discovered near Worli Seaface seven months ago.
Despite conducting multiple DNA tests, with one crucial report pending, the authorities remain determined to bring closure to this mysterious case.
The chilling discovery unfolded on July 5 last year when an unidentified body, believed to be a teenage girl aged between 15-17, was found washed ashore near Worli Seaface, prompting an intensive investigation by the police. With no missing complaints matching the victim’s description, suspicions arose about a potential insider involvement in her tragic death.
Worli police’s relentless efforts led to the identification of 112 missing girls within the same age group over the subsequent months, spanning across various regions in Maharashtra. Using technical expertise and human intelligence, the authorities traced these individuals, with some breakthroughs achieved through social media and call data records. “We scrutinised missing complaints from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Vasai, Virar, Pune, and Ratnagiri hoping to find a clue,” a Worli police officer was quoted by Mid-day newspaper.
