AUS vs WI: Matthew Short Ruled Out Of 3rd ODI Due To Hamstring Injury, Ben McDermott Added To Australia’s Squad

Australia vs West Indies ODI Series: Australia batter Matthew Short has been ruled out of their third ODI match against West Indies due to to a low-grade hamstring injury.

The third ODI match between Australia and West Indies is scheduled to be played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday, February 6 with the hosts already 2-0 up.

Australia have already taken the unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series on the back of comfortable victories in the first two matches at Melbourne and Sydney respectively.

Queensland batter Ben McDermott has been called into Australia’s ODI squad to replace Short as they aim for a complete whitewash in the series.

Short suffered the injury during the second match on Sunday as he scored 41 runs but was unable to field after suffering the injury while batting.

There are no more batters left in the Australian squad with Travis Head already sent home to rest following the first ODI at the MCG.

McDermott’s inclusion came on the back of his stunning 146 not out for Queensland in a Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania on Saturday. He will be joining the Australian squad in Canberra on Monday.
