Uttar Pradesh: Man loots bank with sickle, escapes with over Rs 8 lakh in cash
In an incident caught on camera, a man looted a bank in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda and fled with nearly Rs 8 lakh. Caught on the CCTV, the man wearing a helmet, can be seen entering the cubicle of the cashier.
He then threatened the cashier with a sickle. The cashier then put the huge amount of money in his bag, following which the man fled from the bank.
Robbery took place at bank’s Civil Line branch
As per the police, The incident happened in the city’s Prathama UP Gramin Bank. The man reportedly fled away with around Rs 8.53 lakh in cash. The robbery took place at the bank’s Civil Line branch in Gonda’s VIP area. The police was informed soon after the incident. After getting the information, a police team reached the spot immediately. While five teams have been formed to nab the culprit, the police have also started questioning.
A police officer, while speaking to the media said that the bank informed of the incident at around 12:15 pm on Friday. The robber was in the bank for close to twenty minutes. He waited for the most customers to leave the bank after which he reached near the cashier for the loot. After looting, he left the bank immediately. He added that other police stations in the city have also been informed and a lookout notice has also been issued for the man.
Recently, there were reports of a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM giving more money the people who were looking to withdraw, from Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district. The ATM was closed soon after the incident.
