Pratik Gandhi To Portray Mahatma Gandhi In Hansal Mehta’s Next Web Series: Report
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has begun shooting his upcoming web series ‘Gandhi’, which is based on historian and author Ramachandra Guha’s books ‘Gandhi Before India’ and ‘Gandhi: The Years that Changed the World’ as per a report by Hindustan Times.
Produced by Applause Entertainment, the series is set to be shot in London, with the first schedule starting in January in Maharashtra.
The report says, “They are shooting at Bhor now, Maharashtra right now. After completing the schedule in India, they will be shooting in London for the next one.” The London shoot is crucial for capturing Mahatma Gandhi’s experiences outside India, where he completed his education. This period was a significant part of the script.
The series will mark Mehta’s third collaboration with actor Pratik Gandhi, who is set to play the lead role of Mahatma Gandhi. Additionally, Addinath Kothare is also part of the series in a pivotal role. Details about other cast members are yet to be disclosed.
“The series will release on a mainstream OTT platform mid-next year,” the report also revealed.
Mehta and Gandhi’s previous collaborations include the critically acclaimed ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ and ‘Baai’. The upcoming series aims to delve into Gandhi’s life and the events that shaped his ideology and leadership.
