Why is Mehndipur Balaji’s Holi special?
Mehndipur Balaji Temple is located in Dausa district of Rajasthan and is dedicated to Hanuman ji who is not primarily associated with the festival of Holi. This temple is considered one of the most famous and ancient in the country and is primarily known for its exorcism of people allegedly possessed by ghosts and evil spirits. Apart from Hanuman ji, there is also an idol of Ram ji and Mata Sita inside the temple.
Special arrangements are made to distribute Prasad to the devotees on Holi.
How did Mehndipur Balaji come into existence?
According to experts, this temple is about a thousand years old. It is believed that the idol of Lord Hanuman in this temple had itself appeared in the Aravalli hills in the mountain range in Rajasthan. After finding the idol, Shri Mahant ji’s ancestor had built a temple in Dausa district and placed this idol inside the temple.
At that time only the ancestors of Shri Mahant ji used to look after this temple. Apart from this, he used to worship Balaji after opening the doors of the temple in the morning. It is believed that devotees come here with the hope of praying and worshipping and also hoping that their wishes are fulfilled.
Why don’t peoplebring Balaji’s Prasad home?
However, many people are afraid of going to Mehandipur Balaji, because most of the people who are allegedly possessed by ghosts and evil spirits are brought to this temple. Here you will see several people screaming, hitting and hurting themselves as if they were mad or possessed.
Apart from this, there are some special beliefs related to the temple that no one should look back during the Aarti here. Secondly, the Prasad distributed at the temple should not be eaten in the temple nor should it be taken home with you. Otherwise, those who do that will likely be possessed by evil spirits.
