Volkswagen Group Looks For Partnerships In India: Here’s Everything You Need To Know
Europe’s largest carmaker Volkswagen Group is looking for partners in India. They’re even willing to share their ownership of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVIPL) with the new partners in the country.
They know that making electric cars is a big deal, so they’re talking to other car companies in India. They want to work together on things like sharing car designs and getting parts(Much like Maruti Suzuki and Toyota India do for the Baleno and the Glanza as well as the Invicto and the Innova Hycross).
Executives from Germany are excited to partner with Indian car manufacturers to invest in making electric cars in the future together. Volkswagen is already using a platform called MQB A0 IN for cars made by Skoda and Volkswagen.
Volkswagen has also stated that they want to invest in locally manufactured electric vehicles for India as well as the global markets in the second half of this decade.
Volkswagen knows that making electric cars is a big risk and costs a lot of money. So they’re thinking about teaming up with other companies to share the risk and use their technology. They hope this will help them make the switch to making electric cars easier and safer for everyone.
When asked about working with other companies, Piyush Arora, the MD and CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, didn’t give many details. He just said they’re always looking for new opportunities to do business around the world. And stated, “please understand that we generally do not comment on news.”
Even though electric cars are becoming more popular, it might take some time for people in India to start buying them although that number is growing too. Right now, Tata Motors is the biggest seller of electric cars in India, but other companies like Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki are thinking about making their own electric cars too.
