Students can appear in Class 10, 12 board exams twice from 2025

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has revealed that starting from the academic session 2025-26, students will have the option to appear for 10th and 12th class board examinations twice a year.

Speaking on Monday while launching the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh, Pradhan emphasised that one of the key objectives of the new National Education Policy (NEP) introduced in 2020 is to alleviate academic stress on students.

The scheme, which aims to upgrade 211 schools in Chhattisgarh, was inaugurated at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay auditorium in Raipur.

10 BAG-LESS DAYS IN SCHOOLS

Pradhan highlighted the concept of implementing 10 bag-less days in schools every year, focusing on engaging students in activities related to art, culture, and sports, among others.

Under the NEP 2020, the Ministry of Education announced the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) in August last year, which includes holding board examinations at least twice a year. This approach is intended to provide students with sufficient time and opportunities to perform well, with the option to retain their best scores.
