Apple Is Launching New iPad Pro With OLED Panel And It Can Be Thinner Than Expected
Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch new products, including an iPad Pro with OLED technology, a larger iPad Air, and new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models featuring the company’s new M3 chip next month.
Ahead of Apple’s March launch event, a new leak has revealed that the upcoming iPad Pro models with OLED panels will be significantly thinner.
According to 9to5Mac sources, the upcoming iPad Pro models are expected to undergo some minor changes in size and thickness. These adjustments are primarily due to the introduction of OLED displays, which require fewer layers than LCDs. As a result, the new iPad Pro models will be to be slightly larger in dimensions but thinner than their predecessors.
The current 11-inch iPad Pro measures 247.6 mm in width, 178.5 mm in height, and 5.9 mm in thickness. However, the new version is expected to be slightly larger in width, measuring 249.7 mm, while being slightly shorter at 177.5 mm. As per the report, the most important change lies in its thickness, which is expected to decrease to 5.1 mm, making it thinner than its predecessor. Similarly, the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro, measures 6.4mm thick, but the new model is said to be 5mm thick.
Alongside the iPad Pro, Apple is expected to introduce two new iPad Air models, including a larger 12.9-inch version for the first time. The larger iPad Air will be almost the same size as the current iPad Pro, measuring 280.6mm by 214.9mm by 6mm.
According to MacRumors, the Cupertino-based tech giant is limiting OLED display technology to the Pro lineup, so while the 12.9-inch iPad Air will be similar in length and width to the iPad Pro, it will be thicker because it will continue to feature an LCD display.
