Amazon, Google, OpenAI To Sign Pact To Prevent Abuse of AI In 2024 Elections

Google, Amazon, OpenAI and 17 other big tech companies have vowed to work to fight the abuse of artificial intelligence. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, the big players in AI vowed to prevent the abuse of artificial intelligence, especially in upcoming elections across the world.

The companies announced this agreement on Friday during the 60th Munich Security Conference. Under this, these 20 big tech companies made a series of commitments to try and detect AI-enabled election misinformation. The companies vowed to respond to any misuse, and misinformation, and raise public awareness about the misuse.

The “Tech Accord to Combat Deceptive Use of AI in 2024 Election” was signed by 20 tech companies including Google, Amazon, OpenAI, Adobe, TikTok, IBM, Meta, Snap, Microsoft and many more.

“AI didn’t create election deception, but we must ensure it doesn’t help deception flourish,” Microsoft’s President Brad Smith stated while announcing the tech agreement.

“The intentional and undisclosed generation and distribution of deceptive AI election content can deceive the public in ways that jeopardize the integrity of electoral processes,” states the Tech Accord.

AI Misuse Sounds Global Alarms

In the most recent incident, an ai-generated audio message that sounded like US President Joe Biden attempted to get Democrats to not vote in the New Hampshire primary elections. In another case, an AI-generated video of the Eiffel Tower on fire sparked a frenzy on social media.

Several deepfakes of celebrities, politicians and other personalities have caused panic across the globe and called for stricter tech rules and supervision, especially by companies.
