Amazon to launch separate vertical for cheap, unbranded clothes, watches priced below Rs 600

Amazon is gearing up to challenge the likes of the popular shopping platform Meesho with the announcement of a new venture tailored specifically for budget-conscious shoppers.

According to exclusive information shared with The Economic Times, Amazon’s forthcoming budget vertical will offer a range of affordable items, including inexpensive watches and unbranded clothing.

According to The Economic Times, Amazon is introducing a new section dedicated to affordable, unbranded fashion and lifestyle items, according to insiders. The US-based online retail giant aims to attract budget-conscious Indian shoppers aggressively, especially as demand for mainstream products slows down and Amazon’s own growth rate decreases.

This new section, called Amazon Bazaar, is actively recruiting sellers and encouraging them to list unbranded products such as clothing, watches, shoes, jewelry, and luggage, all priced below Rs 600. This information comes from documents reviewed by ET, a trusted source.

Similar market segments have been successfully explored by companies like Meesho, backed by SoftBank, and Flipkart’s Shopsy (available through a separate app). Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is also developing its own budget-friendly platform called Ajio Street.
