American rapper Killer Mike detained just after winning 3 Grammys
American rapper Killer Mike was detained at the 66th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles shortly after he scored big by winning three of the top four categories at the Grammys’ premiere ceremony on Sunday.
A video released by journalist Chris Gardner from website The Hollywood Reporter showed several police officers escorting Mike in handcuffs out of the Crypto.com Arena.
Killer Mike won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” which features Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane, at the Grammys’ premiere ceremony. His second award was for best rap album for “Michael,” and a third for the best rap song, also for ‘Scientists & Engineers.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer was detained on a minor charge unrelated to the Grammys.
The 48-year-old American rapper and songwriter, born in Atlanta (Georgia), won his first Grammy in 2003 for best rap performance for “The Whole World,” his collaboration with OutKast. “For all the people out there that think you get too old to rap. I don’t give a damn if you’re 78 rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home, make sure we keep hip-hop alive,” Mike said during the Grammys pre-show event.
