Amid divorce rumours with Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan says ‘I am not worthy of…’
Abhishek Bachchan is making noise with his currently released movie I Want To Talk. Many have also called his performance, his career-best. The film which is currently running in theatres, sees Abhishek play the role of a real-life marketing genius Arjun Sen who is a cancer survivor. He is on the cusp of life-altering surgery as he navigates a complex relationship with his daughter. I Want To Talk also stars Johny Lever, Ahilya Bamroo, Banita Sandhu, and Pearle Maaney, among others. It released in theatres globally on November 22. Shoojit and Ronnie Lahiri produced the project under Rising Sun Films. In a recent interview, Shoojit Sircar revealed that while working with Abhishek, he reminded him of his mother Jaya Bachchan. Sircar said, “Abhishek steals your heart in this film, I saw a lot of Jayaji in his performance. You will see her warmth and charm in his character in the film too. I remember Jayaji in a Satyajit Ray film standing near a wall and staring, you will find those stares in his eyes too.”
Reacting to this, Abhishek said, “Throughout my career of 25 years, there has been such huge reference to my father and his amazing work, but very few attribute anything to my beautiful mother. I am glad Shoojit Da did, she will be very happy. She keeps saying, ‘You’re my son too’. But ya, I am not worthy of being spoken about in the same sentence as these great actors.”
Earlier, during an exclusive chat with ETimes, even R Balki had said that Abhishek is more like his mother Jaya Bachchan and the actor had completely agreed. “I think I’m more like my mother”, he had said.
Meanwhile, Abhishek has been struggling in his personal life. As per the reports, he has planned for a divorce with Aishwarya Rai. The couple who married in 2007, are reportedly staying seprately and Aishwarya is taking a good care of their daughter Aaradhya. However, there is no official statement from the Rais or the Bachchans on the same.
