Apple Vision Pro Updates: MR Headset Reportedly ‘Four Generations’ Away From Becoming iPad Killer

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple introduced the Vision Pro for buyers in the US this month. It has undergone massive scrutiny by tech reviewers who are speculating about the future prospects of the product.

In the latest move, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a reliable name for Apple-related updates, has speculated that the headset may replace the iPad in the future, provided the company fixes the shortcomings.

While noting the MR headset may replace the tablet, the journalist said that it is “still very early days”. Gurman states the headset to be a “preview” of the future with its impressive hardware and software mix. However, the device is still “heavy and cumbersome” and has a range of shortcomings. Plus, he claims the bugs in the software make it feel as if it is a beta build.

Citing the team (Vision Product Group) working on the headset, the report noted that it may take four generations to churn out the product in its ideal state, similar to the product pathways of other Apple products. As for his recommendation, Gurman said many things require a fix before he recommends the headset at its premium starting price of $3,499.
