Apple’s New Patent Hints ‘Underwater Mode’ Coming To iPhones Soon; Full Details

This comes after the company filed a 78-page patent, published on Tuesday, stating an alternative iPhone interface designed specifically for underwater use.

According to the report, the company believes that the latest iOS update is inefficient for wet iPhones because the icons and gestures do not operate even when the fingers are soaked. In order to address that, the business seems to have come up with the underwater user interface concept.

According to these reports, the company plans to streamline iOS by increasing the number of buttons while decreasing the number of menus and depending more on hardware buttons, such as volume controls.

A shared drawing depicts an iPhone in a tank with fish swimming around it, as well as the device’s distinctive symbol indicating that it is in underwater mode. The applications presented have a customised interface while the iPhone is immersed, with larger buttons for wet fingertips.

According to reports, the company feels that present underwater phone operations are obsolete, time-consuming, and inefficient. The new patented functionality makes usage easier and faster. Until now, iPhones have only been designed to be used in depths of less than 1 metre, and the new fully submersible capabilities, similar to the Apple 2 Ultra, may be introduced.

The iPhones are water resistant for up to 6 metres and 30 minutes, which is ideal for splashes and brief jumps but not for deep-sea adventures. However, if Apple successfully integrates the feature into iPhones, we may soon be able to utilise the smartphone for underwater recording, diving, and other activities.
