AR Rahman to reunite with his ex-wife Saira Banu? Divorce lawyer makes stunning claim

The news of AR Rahman and Saira Banu’s divorce has shocked fans worldwide. After nearly three decades of marriage, the couple announced their separation, sparking widespread speculation about the proceedings, including the custody of their children and the possibility of reconciliation. Prominent lawyer Vandana Shah, who discussed the matter with Vicky Lalwani on his YouTube channel, shed light on the situation. Addressing the custody of the couple’s three children, the lawyer clarified that it is still under deliberation. She noted, “That’s not decided yet… But some of them are adults, they are free to choose who they stay with.”
The subject of alimony was also raised, but Vandana refrained from commenting, emphasising Saira’s integrity. “She is not a money-minded person,” Vandana stated, highlighting that Saira has maintained a low public profile throughout their marriage.
Is there a possibility of reconciliation?
Interestingly, the lawyer did not rule out the possibility of reconciliation between the two. “I am an eternal optimist, and I always talk about love and romance,” she remarked. “The joint statement is quite clear, it talks about pain and separation. It’s a long marriage, and a lot of thought has gone into this decision, but nowhere have I said that reconciliation is not possible.”
AR Rahman and Saira Banu anounced divorced
Earlier this month, AR Rahman and Saira Banu announced their decision to part ways after 29 years of marriage, citing “significant emotional strain” in their relationship. Married since 1995, the couple shares three children – Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
In a joint statement issued through their lawyer, the pair emphasized their request for privacy during this challenging time. “After many years of marriage, Saira and AR Rahman have made the difficult decision to separate. Despite their deep love for each other, they have experienced significant emotional strain in their relationship. The resulting tensions have created an insurmountable gap, one that neither feels capable of bridging at this point,” the statement read.
The announcement came in two parts, with Saira initially addressing the separation in a personal statement, followed by the joint release. Later, Rahman posted a tweet from his personal handle where he announced separation with a hashtag. Their lawyer has confirmed that the couple is working toward an amicable divorce, prioritising respect and understanding.
