Banaras Hindu University To Start 4-Year UG Programme From Academic 2024-25; Details Here

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will launch a four-year undergraduate program that includes honours and research, titled UG Honors and UG Honors with research, in the academic year 2024-25. This choice was made by the National Education Policy 2020.

According to the plan, only 10% of the applicants with a CGPA of 7.5 or higher will be able to pursue UG honours with research based on merit. The planned programs focus on students’ total development to shape them into responsible citizens capable of making the most of their university education in terms of individual and professional progress, according to the institute.

Those who complete UG Honors with Research at BHU will be eligible for the PhD programme without needing to pursue a postgraduate degree. The suggested programme allows students to choose minor courses from a wide range of possibilities.

Candidates should be aware that all undergraduate students will be required to complete credits in Multidisciplinary Courses, Skill Enhancement Courses, Ability Enhancement, Value Added Courses, and internships. Those seeking honours with research will complete their thesis during their final semester.

Meanwhile, the five-year BA LLB course provided by the Faculty of Law, which falls under the special course category, will stay intact. Similarly, skill enhancement professional programmes at South Campus, as well as those authorized by particular regulatory organizations, will continue to operate as usual because they are not covered by NEP.

The BHU council also approved the idea to offer hostel facilities in subsequent years exclusively to students who attend at least 70% of their classes. Departments have been advised to assess their current offers and develop strategies to implement the planned adjustments.
