Basant Panchami 2024: Find Out the Best way to Celebrate this Day and the Precautions one Needs to Take

According to the Hindu calendar, the month of Magh is going on currently. This festival is marked by several important festivals. Today is Mauni Amavasya and on February 14 Saraswati puja will be celebrated.

This day will be marked by the worship of Maa Saraswati who blesses her devotees with knowledge and wisdom. However, while celebrating Basant Panchami and worshipping Maa Saraswati devotees should keep in mind certain things so that the blessing of Maa Saraswati does not get diluted.

When in Basant Panchami?

The fifth day of Shukla Paksha of the Magh month is celebrated as Basant Panchami. Basant Panchami marks the end of the winter season and the start of the Spring season. This year the festival of Basant Panchami will be celebrated on February 14, 2024. Basant Panchami duration will be from 2:41 PM on Feb 13 to 12:09 PM on Feb 14, 2023. On that day the auspicious time for puja will be from 7:01 am to 12:35 pm. Let us now find out how one should celebrate Basant Panchami.

How to perform Saraswati puja at home?

  • Before you start the puja, make sure to clean the puja room and remove any clutter.
  • Set up a pooja altar or mandir. Now, place an idol or picture of Goddess Saraswati and Lord Ganesha.
  • Perform the purification ritual. Decorate the space by lighting an oil lamp and incense sticks. Place a few colourful flowers, garlands, turmeric, kumkum, rice, etc.
  • Prepare offerings for the goddess, such as sweets, fruits and flowers.
  • Traditionally, people also keep books, pens, paint brushes, musical instruments, writing materials or things related to art for the puja.
  • Fill a copper or brass Kalash with water. Place at least five mango leaves in it and betel leaf at the top.
  • Start the Saraswati puja by chanting mantras.
