Basant Panchami 2024: Know How Best to Worship on This Day to Get Both Wealth and Knowledge
Basant Panchami is one of the most popular spring festivals of India and is celebrated across different parts of the country with fun and fervour.
Basant Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. According to the scriptures, this day also marks the birth anniversary of Maa Saraswati, who is considered the goddess of knowledge, wisdom and music.
By worshipping Goddess Saraswati as per the rituals and with full faith on this day, students are said to gain knowledge and wisdom and can focus better on their studies. This year Basant Panchami will be celebrated on February 14.
According to astrology, the colour yellow has been given special importance on the day of Basant Panchami as this is the colour of spirituality. The colour holds a special meaning for Basant Panchami celebrations, as it signifies bright yellow sunshine, the brilliance of nature and the vibrancy of life. During this season, the fields in the countryside, especially the rural areas of Punjab, are brightened with the yellow colour of the mustard crop, which adds to the festival’s spirit. As a part of the traditional celebrations, people wear yellow clothes, cook kesar halwa or sweet rice with saffron and offer yellow flowers to God.
According to religious texts, Maa Parvati is also very fond of yellow colour and therefore one should offer her a garland made of yellow flowers on this day. This is said to please her immensely, and she showers her blessings on her devotees.
