BCCI Receives 3000 Applications For India Head Coach’s Job; Narendra Modi, Amit Shah Among Names Used By Fake Applicants
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) received more than 3000 applications for the job of India head coach with several fake applicants in the name of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. The BCCI advertised for the position of India head coach on May 13 on Google Forms and witnessed a large number of applications daily. The deadline ended on May 27.
However, it will be hard task for BCCI to segregate the actual applications from genuine candidates. “Last year too, the BCCI received such a response where imposters applied and the story is similar this time. The reason the BCCI had to invite applications on Google forms is it’s easy to scrutinise the names of applicants in one sheet,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
This is not the first time, BCCI had to deal with fake applicants. In 2022, the BCCI had received around 5000 applications in the names of several celebrities which turned out to be fake. Back then, the BCCI had asked the applicants to mail their applications. Whoever wins the race to be India’s next head coach, he will have to be at the helm for three and half years in charge till the 2027 50-over World Cup in South Africa.
