Bihar: AIMIM leader shot dead in Gopalganj, Asaduddin Owaisi slams Nitish government

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Abdul Salam was killed in Bihar’s Gopalganj district. This is the second time that a leader from the party lost his life in such an attack in the state.

In December also a party leader was gunned down in Bihar.

Deceased was on way to railway station

According to reports Salam was going to the railway station when he was attacked by unknown assailants. He was riding pillion when 4 bike-borne men appeared and surrounded him. They opened fire at him.

Though an injured Salam was immediately rushed to the hospital, he could not survive the attack. As far as his political career is concerned, he had contested the November 2002 bypoll from Gopalganj Assembly seat.

The police have meanwhile launched an investigation in the matter. Gopalganj SP, Swarn Prabhat said that they have set up a special investigation team, which is investigating the crime. They are trying to find out the motive behind the murder.

AIMIM head Asaduddin Owaisi launched an attack on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. He said that the Bihar government was unable to maintain law and order in the state. He reminded the CM that last year in December AIMIM’s Siwan district president Arif Jamal was shot dead.
