Bihar: Police arrest 313 for Bihar teacher recruitment exam paper leak
In a major breakthrough in the alleged paper leak of the teacher recruitment examination, the Bihar Police has arrested a total of 313 people.
The arrests were made by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the state police. The examination had been held on March 15 by the Bihar Public Service Commission.
Gadgets and documents seized, accused sent to judicial custody
The EOW said that all those arrested were presented in a civil court. They were remanded in judicial custody by the court. Currently 266 people are lodged in Patna’s Beur Central Jail. Of those arrested 88 are women, many of whom are reportedly pregnant.
The EOW said that they have seized fake question papers, documents and several gadgets from those arrested. Those who have been arrested are said to be a part of an organised gang involved in examination paper leak, according to police. These gangs have people who are experts at solving papers, drivers and also fake candidates.
So far the police have not been able to arrest the gang kingpin, but officials said that they are hoping to nab them also soon. EOW officials said that there may be multiple gangs involved in the entire paper leak racquet. So they have launched a multi-faceted probe and all those involved in the examination process are being investigated.
The gang is accused of having sold question papers for the exam, along with the answers to some of the candidates. They charged Rs 10 lakh from each of the candidates, the police said. Several gang members were arrested from Vaishali and Patna.
