BJP-TDP Alliance Partner Jana Sena Party Is The Only Unrecognised Party To Receive Electoral Bonds

The only unrecognised party which has received donations through electoral bond is Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP), Business Standard reported on the basis of the data available in the public domain and information shared by the parties with the Election Commission of India disclosed on Sunday (March 17).

As per the report, the unrecognised parties didn’t receive any donations through electoral bond between 2019 and 2021. However, only Jana Sena received Rs 2 crore in 2022, another Rs 2 crore in 2023 and Rs 17 crore in 2024 which took its total to Rs 21 crore.

Business Standard reported that the Telangana-based party accounts for all of the donations — 0.2% of the total donations (Rs 12,769 crore) that parties have received — garnered by the ‘unrecognised’ party segment. Notably, JSP is in an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

How Much Money Did the BJP Really Get From Electoral Bonds?

Unrecognised parties are the political parties which do not have a reserved symbol because they are new or have not garnered sufficient votes in previous elections.
