IndiGo Issues Statement on Bomb Threat

IndiGo flight 6E2211 operating from Delhi to Varanasi had received a specific bomb threat at Delhi airport. All necessary protocols were followed and the aircraft was taken to a remote bay as per guidelines by airport security agencies. All passengers were safely evacuated via the emergency exits. The flight is currently undergoing inspection. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area, IndiGo said in a statement.

The incident was reported when the flight, 6E2211 was scheduled to take off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport at around 5 AM.

Soon after the bomb threat report was received, a quick response team immediately rushed to the spot which has so far not found any suspicious items.

The development comes nearly after a month when a tissue paper, with the word ‘bomb’ written on it, was found on an Air India flight lavatory at Delhi airport, however, it turned out to be a hoax.

Police stated that they received information about a tissue paper found in the lavatory of an Air India flight scheduled to depart for Vadodara on May 15, with the word ‘bomb’ written on it.

“Following standard security protocols, a thorough inspection was conducted, and no suspicious items were found,” an official had said.

The development also comes at a time when many schools and hospitals in Delhi have recently been targeted with bomb threat emails with the presence of explosives on their premises. However, the investigations by authorities later revealed the threats to be false alarms.
