Can you reverse severe osteoarthritis with regeneration therapy? Ortho has an answer
Osteoarthritis, often referred to as wear and tear arthritis, is a degenerative joint disease that affects millions of people worldwide.
While commonly associated with aging, it can also be caused by injury or excessive stress on the joints. The disease occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of bones wears down over time, leading to pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion in the affected joints.
A hallmark symptom of osteoarthritis is joint stiffness, especially after periods of inactivity or rest. This stiffness can make it challenging to engage in everyday activities and may worsen over time if left untreated.
Additionally, individuals with osteoarthritis may experience joint tenderness or swelling due to inflammation within the affected joints. While the condition is said to be largely irreversible, doctors say that there are some possibilities.
In an interaction with News9Live, Dr Pramod Bhor, Director of Orthopedics and Robotic Joint Replacement Surgeon, Fortis Hospital, spoke about about the myths associated with osteoarthritis treatment, especially with respect to regenerative therapy, if it is effective enough to treat the same.
