Cardiac health: Cardiologist shares strategies to prevent fatal heart attacks
Winter season is the time when most of the heart attacks are reported. Cardiologists often urge people to take care of their heart health especially the individuals with pre-existing heart conditions.
When the temperature drops, it leads to increased blood pressure and heart rate which puts the heart at risk during winter. Dr Abhay Somani, Cardiologist at Ruby Hall Clinic Pune told News9, “Preventing fatal heart attacks during the winter demands a comprehensive approach that encompasses lifestyle adjustments and mindful health practices.
As temperatures plummet, safeguarding against the physiological strain that cold weather imposes on the cardiovascular system becomes paramount.”
“One effective strategy is to layer clothing to maintain body warmth. Cold temperatures can prompt blood vessels to constrict, heightening the workload on the heart. By dressing in layers and ensuring extremities like hands and head are covered, individuals can mitigate this constriction and alleviate strain on the heart.”
