Caught on camera: Car mows down several people in Delhi’s Ghazipur, 22-year-old woman killed
One woman was killed and six others suffered injuries in a devastating incident that shook the Ghazipur area of East Delhi on Wednesday night.
The tragedy unfolded around 9 pm when a speeding car mowed down a group of people.
According to authorities, the 22-year-old victim, identified as Sita Devi from Ghaziabad, lost her life in the accident. The injured, five women and two men, were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for medical attention. Among the injured, the driver of the vehicle also sustained severe injuries, reportedly inflicted during the aftermath of the incident.

Eyewitnesses recount the horror
Eyewitnesses recounted the chaos that ensued after the collision, with locals venting their anger on the vehicle and its driver. A circulating video on social media captured the scene of enraged people smashing the car’s windows and attempting to flip it over in a fit of fury.
According to PTI report, the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. However, police are yet to confirm this, stating that a medical examination will determine the driver’s condition.
What police said
‘The accused is in police custody and legal action is being taken,’ said Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Apoorva Gupta, addressing concerns regarding the handling of the case.
Residents of Khoda Colony, situated on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border, were among those affected by the tragic event.
