Chef Neha Deepak Shah’s DIY Maggi Masala Is Unmissable

We all love instant food; the quick recipes, the convenience, the low prices, everything suits us perfectly, except, of course, the additives.

More and more people are growing aware of the ingredients that are being used in instant or frozen foods, especially in instant noodles and curries that need minimal prep or assembly.

One of the most widely used instant foods in the country is, of course, Maggi! The noodle brand has been a favourite with generations of foodies as they can be cooked in a couple of minutes. However, this brand of noodles depends on some additives too, some of which are present in its spice blend.

Most spice blends for noodles are known to have high sodium content, artificial flavourings, and preservatives. Consuming high amounts of sodium regularly can potentially lead to health issues such as high blood pressure and heart problems.

Former Masterchef contestant Neha Deepak Shah who often breaks down popular recipes on Instagram, took to her social media to share the recipe for a homemade Maggi masala.

“The beauty of this seasoning is that you can use it mixed with mayo as a dipping sauce. You can also sprinkle this on chips, fries, onion rings, bhajia, momos,” Shah writes on Instagram. The spice blend can also be used on ramen and rice noodles and it’s not just meant for Maggi. The best part is that the spice blend uses simple Indian spices which are probably already present in your kitchen, such as cumin, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, methi seed powder, black pepper, dry ginger powder etc.
