Citroen C3X To Square Off Against Tata Curvv: Launch Details, Powertrain & More

Citroen India is gearing up to make a bold entry into the coupe-SUV market segment with its upcoming C3X model. This new addition, drawing inspiration from the C3 Aircross, promises to bring something fresh to the Indian automobile landscape

Aditya Jairaj, CEO and MD of Stellantis India, hinted at an imminent reveal, setting the stage for a mid-2024 launch. This move pits the Citroen C3X directly against the Tata Curvv, signalling Citroen’s ambition to carve a niche in this competitive space.

The C3X will not only share the C-Cubed platform with its siblings, the C3 and C3 Aircross, but also several components and powertrains. This strategic move aims to keep costs in check. However, Citroen has taken customer feedback to heart, ensuring the C3X will launch with a richer feature set than its predecessors.

Expectations include advanced amenities such as electric folding mirrors, automatic climate control, and wireless charging, among others. Also, powering the C3X will be a 110bhp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, with options for both manual and automatic transmissions.

An electric version is also slated to join the lineup by early 2025, broadening the appeal of the C3X. Despite its singular engine choice at launch, the C3X aims to offer a compelling package, especially for those seeking a unique blend of sedan comfort and SUV boldness.

With a launch window around June-July 2024 for the petrol variant, and the electric iteration following by early 2025, the C3X is poised to compete with established players like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, while also targeting a more value-conscious segment.

As Citroen prepares to unveil more details in the coming weeks, the automotive community awaits what could be a game-changer for the brand in India. The introduction of the C3X might just be the momentum Citroen needs to establish a stronger foothold in the Indian market.
