‘Conspiracy on for 10 Years’: Kanguva producer makes SHOCKING claims after Suriya and Bobby Deol’s Rs 350 crore film flopped at box-office
Kanguva was one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2024. Released on November 14, 2024, fans had high hopes that the movie would break all box office records. However, the reality was quite the opposite. Despite its promising trailer, the film failed miserably at the box office and couldn’t even cross the Rs 100 crore mark.
Produced on a staggering budget of Rs 350 crore, Kanguva featured impressive visual effects. However, the movie failed to hold its ground. Fans are now questioning why the film underperformed so drastically. Some believe the second half of the movie failed to maintain audience interest, while others attribute its downfall to the excessively loud sound design, which detracted from the film’s appeal.
Dhananjayan Breaks His Silence on the Film’s Failure
Amidst various speculations circulating online, co-producer Dhananjayan has finally addressed the reasons behind Kanguva’s failure. He disclosed that Suriya was targeted by two fan groups as far back as 2014. According to him, these groups didn’t want Suriya to achieve significant stardom or success.
The co-producer also alleged that certain political parties contributed to the negativity surrounding the film. While this claim may seem far-fetched to some, Dhananjayan explained that any positive post about Kanguva was met with trolling and negative comments from these groups.
Dhananjayan stated, “One fandom, in particular, is strongly opposed to Suriya, and I don’t understand why. Even if I post something philosophical, they respond with negative comments. I wouldn’t name anyone personally, but I will say that these two actors hold a unique stature in the industry that no one else has.”
Kanguva Box Office Collection
Despite its massive Rs 350 crore budget, Kanguva struggled at the box office. On its opening day, the film earned Rs 24 crore, while its first-week collection stood at Rs 64.3 crore. However, after the initial week, the movie’s performance declined sharply. As of day 14, Kanguva’s total box office collection stands at Rs 68.64 crore, far below expectations.
