Delhi crime: Cab driver assaults man for refusing cash payment, victim demands strong action
In a shocking case reported from Delhi, a man recently took to social media to highlight the misbehaviour by the driver of popular ride-hailing app, Ola.
The man was allegedly assaulted by the driver of the Ola cab. The incident was reported from Delhi. The incident highlights the intimidation tactics used by several cab drivers and also the lack of responsibility of the cab companies in such cases.
Victim slapped in front of son
The Ola customer in this case was Kiran Verma, the founder of Simply Blood. He wrote about the harrowing experience he had with Ola on LinkedIn. He wrote, “This Ola Cab driver slapped me in front of my son and I strongly request you to #SayNotoOla.”
According to him the incident happened in Delhi when he was on a medical break after his 21,000 kilometres walk for blood donation. He said that he was on way to the airport to pick up someone in that Ola cab when he was assaulted. He said that the reason for this was strange. After the cab driver came to his doorstep, he asked Verma to cancel the ride and pay him in cash.
Verma said that he refused to comply with these instructions from the driver and started the ride. The driver started the ride very unwillingly, said the victim. The driver then started driving in the wrong direction and on being questioned he said that he was taking another route due to a traffic jam.
