Delhi University steps up security measures ahead of Holi festivities
As the festival of colours, Holi, approaches on March 25, the University of Delhi (DU) is gearing up to ensure the safety and security of its students and staff.
With a focus on preventing hooliganism and rowdy conduct, DU has implemented comprehensive security measures across its campus, hostels, and colleges.
DU has put in place both internal and external security arrangements to maintain order and discipline during the Holi celebrations. This includes coordination with law enforcement authorities, the Proctorial board, Dean Students’ Welfare office, and security personnel.
The university is committed to maintaining strict vigilance and enforcing discipline to prevent any untoward incidents.
STRICT DISCIPLINARY ACTION
In line with its zero-tolerance policy towards hooliganism, DU has stated that the strictest possible disciplinary action will be taken against any individuals found engaging in disruptive behaviour.
These actions will be carried out as per the provisions of University Statues and Ordinances, ensuring accountability and deterrence.
JOINT CONTROL ROOM AND MOBILE PATROLLING
To enhance surveillance and response capabilities, DU has established Joint Control Rooms in both the north and south campuses.
Additionally, mobile patrolling by DU security staff and law enforcement officials will be conducted around the clock.
POLICE COOPERATION AND 24×7 SURVEILLANCE
DU has collaborated closely with senior police officials to ensure full cooperation and support. A dedicated campus security vehicle (Vamika) will be deployed for 24×7 surveillance of the campus, further bolstering security measures.
This collaborative effort underscores the university’s commitment to promoting a safe and peaceful Holi celebration.
