Dibyendu Bhattacharya on beauty standards in cinema: ‘Looks do matter’

Dibyendu Bhattacharya has earned widespread acclaim for his compelling on-screen performances. In a recent interview with IndiaToday.in, the versatile actor reflected on the complexities of the film industry.

The actor who is currently seen in Prime Video’s ‘Poacher’, opened up about beauty norms set by the film industry.

“I never faced this, but, I just came to know that there were a few roles which were like where the producer was indecisive because of my skin tone. One notion is always there, that you know, the dark is like dark. It’s very simplistic. So your approach towards the industry cannot be that simplistic. Black means dark, like a villain or negative, and white means fair. Of course, there are filmmakers who don’t believe all these things, and they try to mix-match and amalgamate, as they do not always try to find black and white. They try to find the grey. So our life should be grey and not black and white,” Dibyendu told IndiaToday.In.
