Ameesha Patel made a memorable debut in 2000 with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai alongside Hrithik Roshan. At 25, she became an overnight star and later appeared in superhit films like Gadar, Humraaz, Bhool Bhulaiya and more. However, there was an incident in her life that remained a hot topic over the years. According to reports from Masala magazine, the actress had a disagreement with the prominent 90s actress Mamta Kulkarni, renowned for her roles in films like Karan Arjun, Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum and Andolan. 
When Ameesha Patel and Mamta Kulkarni’s heated argument grabbed headlines
The incident took place in Mauritius during a private party hosted by their mutual friend. The disagreement between Mamta and Ameesha arose over a trival issue: the quality of meat being served. Reportedly, Mamta was unhappy with the meat being served and got into an ugly spat with the waiter. In his defense, the waiter tried to explain her that the dish was vension (deer meat), not chicken. However, Mamta wasn’t satisfied and created a major scene at the party. According to sources, Ameesha Patel who witnessed the whole incident, made a shocking comment about Mamta’s lack of social grace, which was overheard by Mamta’s friend.
This made Mamta furious and she made a very nasty remark about Ameesha’s star status. “You are here in Mauritius to shoot for hair oil, aren’t you? Well, for your information while you get paid a measly INR One Lakh. I get INR 15 Lakh for the same. So you tell me who is a bigger star, you or me?.” Mamta said.

Ameesha, however, chose not to reply back and ignored the situation rather than escalate it. When later asked about the incident, Ameesha denied it, saying, “Oh no, you are talking of an incident that happened a long time ago. She (Mamta) is dying for some publicity, that’s all. Please don’t bring it up. It’s so dumb to bring up the issue now. Mamta is uselessly getting into a controversy where there is no need to rake up the issue.”
Ameesha also shared the details about the party and how she tried to calm Mamta by reminding her how much efforts were put in by the host. But instead, Mamta lashed out and insulted her publicly. The Gadar 2 actress had explained, “All of us were at a dinner party thrown by Mr. Bajaj (of the Bajaj Sevashram fame) and Mamta was complaining and harassing everybody about the food. Forget Mamta, even her secretary started abusing people there. I didn’t want them to scream so much because Mr. Bajaj was just sitting down at the table and I am sure he could hear everything that was being said. I told them, ‘Everyone is eating the same food.”
Ameesha added, “Despite being in Mauritius, the hosts are trying to do their best to provide a great meal by Indian cooks they have flown over, so I don’t think you should complain. My words angered Mamta because she thought she was a big star. What followed next was Mamta trying to show off her star status and telling me, ‘Who do you think you are?.”
Ameesha Patel’s mother had to save her
At one point, the argument became so heated that Mamta’s secretary allegedly threatened Ameesha physically. But her mom stepped in to save her. Ameesha’s mother caught the secretary’s hand and yelled, “Don’t you dare to touch my daughter.” This intervention prevented the whole situation to escalate any further.
Soon after this incident, and Mamta’s other controversial actions and statements caused her career to nosedive. She eventually quit acting and prefers to stay away from the limelight. Today, she reportedly lives a quite life as yogini in Kenya, far away from the world of glitz and glam.
