Dwayne Bravo lauds Ishan Kishan, puts him in ‘most gifted’ company amid BCCI central contract row
Team India wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan is garnering the headlines for all the wrong reasons after being snubbed from BCCI’s central contracts list for the 2023-24 season.
Kishan along with Shreyas Iyer was not handed a central contract for the ongoing season despite being a regular for India a few months ago. Both Iyer and Kishan were also part of India’s squad in the 2023 ODI World Cup last year.
However, they were ignored from the central contracts list over their reluctance to play domestic cricket. Irrespective of the row over his central contract snub, Kishan remains one of the most talented wicket-keeper batters in India and has already proved his prowess in white-ball cricket. Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took to social media on Friday to highlight Kishan’s qualities, calling him one of the most gifted players around.
Bravo shared pictures with Kishan and West Indies wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran from the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, Gujarat. He praised the duo with a special caption. ‘Two of the most gifted players around @nicholaspooran and Ishan,’ Bravo captioned his post.
Kishan last turned up for India in a T20I match against Australia in Guwahati in November last year. He was part of the T20I squad for India’s tour of South Africa last year and travelled to the Rainbow nation with the rest of the team. However, he was left warming the bench there before seeking a mental health break to leave the tour midway and return home.
