Ekta Kapoor Reacts to Hema Committee Report and Sexual Harassment at Workplace, Calls It ‘Dark and Deeply Troubling’
At the trailer launch of ‘The Buckingham Murders’, producer Ekta R Kapoor opened up about her views on the Justice Hema Committee Report. She strongly advocated for the need to boost women’s presence in leadership roles, affirming that it would contribute significantly to establishing safer working surroundings.

During a press interaction, Ektaa stressed that the issue of women’s safety extends well beyond the bounds of just the film and entertainment sector. Ektaa shared, “Women and their safety is not just an industry issue. We take this very seriously. Like I said, a lot of women have to now lead so that a lot of other women can join forces. Two female producers coming together, making a film, telling a crime story which is sorted by a female officer is also a step to create some kind of safety (sic).”
She further said, “We have to change the agency from men to women and equalise it. We need women on top in a lot of places. For that, women also have to take an initiative. The report has come, we will read more about it. A conscious effort to keep a safe environment for women at any place of work will be made when women start to lead. I think that has to start (sic).”

The latest report, released this month underscored how the Malayalam film industry is essentially dominated by a close-knit group of 10 to 15 men. These individuals are a mix of producers, directors, and actors, hold considerable dominance and command within the film sector.

Ekta Kapoor has co-produced, The Buckingham Murders In the film, Kareena captures the essence of a grief-stricken detective who is tasked with hunting down a child murderer. Her character portrayal is characterized by varying shades of intensity, engrossed in deciphering puzzling leads to the case. The Buckingham Murders, featuring actors Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen is set to hit the cinemas on September 13.
