Elon Musk’s X Set to Launch YouTube-Like App for Smart TVs, Promising Original Videos

Elon Musk-owned X platform will soon have its own smart TV app that will show you videos on the big screen. An update about the TV app will be shared this week by X Linda Yacarino, CEO. Dedicated TVs will host videos that will be streaming in high-resolution definition, she adds. A teaser video of the app’s interface suggests that X may offer a YouTube-like UI that makes it easier for people to use. “Soon we will bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TV with the X TV app. It will be your companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on the big screen,” the X CEO said in a post.

Users can expect trending video algorithms, AI-driven topics, cross-device experience, enhanced video search, easy casting and wider availability (coming soon to most smart TVs). “We’ll keep you updated. And of course share your thoughts. We build X for our community,” she adds. X is definitely changing the social media app paradigm, and Musk is clearly focused on making it the go-to app for everything. Having a smart TV app not only increases its reach but also brings new customers to the platform. The video streaming service will certainly appeal to many people but it remains to be seen how Musk & Co. plans to populate the content on the platform and where it will source that content.

Musk wants to remove bots from X with his plans to charge new X users in the near future. It has already revamped the X Premium plans, including a Premium+ tier with access to the in-house Grok AI chatbot for select paid subscribers.
