Explosion in an eight-storey building in Paris, three killed in a fire
Three people died in a fire following an explosion in an eight-storey building in Paris, France on Sunday evening. However, the cause of the explosion is not yet known. The building is located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. According to information, an explosion was heard before the fire broke out on the 7th floor of a building on Rue de Charron.
Luc Lebon, deputy mayor of the 11th arrondissement, told Le Parisien that locals were unable to understand what could have caused the explosion, as there was no gas in the building. Yet, despite denials from the building’s residents, authorities have not ruled out traces of gas.
According to the public prosecutor, an investigation into the incident has been opened for destruction by fire or dangerous means and murder, and detectives from the capital’s Second Judicial Police District have been assigned to determine the cause of the explosion. After the explosion, people living in nearby buildings were also evacuated. Later he returned to his home.
This is the third time in a few years that there has been an explosion inside a building in the capital, in which many people have been killed. According to Le Parisien, on January 12, 2019, an explosion occurred in Rue de Travis, killing four people. At the same time, last year on June 21, 2023, 277 Rue Saint-Jacques was blown up, as a result of which three people lost their lives.
