February Auto sales LIVE: TVS Motor up 33% YoY, Toyota Kirloskar hits highest-ever monthly wholesales
Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor and Mahindra and Mahindra among other auto companies will report their auto sales data for February on March 1. Experts have said that cars and two-wheelers are likely to have witnessed healthy traction while tractor sales are expected to decline.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) announced an 86% rise in total sales for February, selling 458,711 units. This is a significant increase from the 247,195 units sold in February of the previous year.
The company’s domestic wholesale figures also increased, with 413,967 units sold last month compared to 227,084 units in the same period last year.
Additionally, the company’s exports saw a rise, with 44,744 units exported last month, a substantial increase from the 20,111 vehicles exported in February the previous year.
TVS Motor
TVS Motor Company reported a 33% year-on-year increase in wholesales In February 2024, reaching 368,424 units compared to 276,150 units in the same month last year. The total sales of two-wheelers also grew by 34%, reaching 357,810 units last month, up from 267,026 units in February the previous year, according to the company’s statement.
Domestic dispatches of two-wheelers to dealers increased by 21%, reaching 267,502 units, compared to 221,402 units in the same period last year. Additionally, the company noted that electric vehicle sales amounted to 17,959 units last month, reflecting a 16% increase from the 15,522 units reported in February 2023.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota Kirloskar Motor achieved its highest-ever monthly wholesales, delivering 25,220 units in February 2024. This marks a 61% increase in the company’s total dispatches to dealers compared to February 2023, when it was 15,685 units. Domestic sales for the month reached 23,300 units, while exports amounted to 1,920 units, according to the automaker’s statement.
Sabari Manohar, Vice President (Sales-Service-Used Car Business) at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, mentioned, “We are experiencing growing demand and receiving positive customer inquiries from various regions. Notably, the demand surge is particularly evident in SUV and MUV models.”
Tata Motors
Tata Motors reported an 8% rise in its total wholesales to 86,406 units in February as compared with 79,705 units in the same month last year. The total domestic sales stood at 84,834 units last month against 78,006 units during February 2023, a growth of 9%.
Sales of passenger vehicles, including electric vehicles, in the domestic market, were at 51,321 units as compared to 43,140 units in the year-ago month, up 19%, it added. Total commercial vehicle sales declined by 4% last month to 35,085 units from 36,565 units in February 2023, it added.
Hyundai Motor India
The firm registered total sales of 60,501 units in February 2024. HMIL achieved domestic sales of 50,201 units, achieving a 6.8% growth. HMIL also achieved export sales of 10,300 units.
