Four bouncers at Gurugram club ‘assault’ woman over smoking, booked
Four bouncers employed at a club near the Signature Tower in Sector-30 are facing charges for allegedly assaulting a woman and forcibly ejecting her from the premises following a dispute over smoking, police said on Friday.
The altercation occurred around 12.30 am on Thursday, with the victim identified as 29-year-old Aditi Chhetri, originally from Dehradun, who had visited the club with her friend Priyaranjan that Wednesday night. According to investigators, the conflict arose when Priyaranjan began smoking, sparking a confrontation with the bouncers.
Chhetri, a resident of DLF Phase-III, claimed that at least four bouncers, including two women, proceeded to assault her and attempted to choke her. Subsequently, they forcibly removed both Chhetri and her friend from the club premises. Inspector Manoj Verma, the Station House Officer of Sector-40, explained that the bouncers had objected to smoking within the club.
FIR filed against bouncers
“Chhetri, under the influence of alcohol, engaged in an argument which escalated into physical assault by the bouncers,” Verma stated, mentioning that CCTV footage from the club had been obtained and that arrests of the suspects were imminent.
Based on Chhetri’s complaint, an FIR was filed against the bouncers under sections 34 (common intention), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector-40 police station on Thursday.
