Gautam Gambhir to Quit Role With KKR in IPL? India’s Rumored New Head Coach Reveals Future Plans

Delhi: Amid talks of who will take over from Rahul Dravid as India’s next head coach, Gautam Gambhir has become the toast of the nation after Kolkata Knight Riders clinched their third IPL title in 2024. After the win, Gambhir was seen chatting with BCCI secretary Jay Shah which most believed was about the India head coach role. A day after these visual became the talk of the town, a report in Cricbuzz claimed that Gambhir becoming the head coach is a ‘done deal’.
But if Gambhir has to take up that India job, he would have to quit as KKR mentor. So, what happens, now? What is Gambhir’s future plans. The KKR mentor revealed that he is going to spend time with his family now and is not thinking of cricket.
“Look for me what is next is the vacation with my girls and my wife. I am looking forward to it. Because that is the one thing from which you can rejuvenate and not think about cricket. What’s better than spending time with your family?” he said during a conversation on Sportskeeda.
“If you ask me, we are still two trophies away from Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Yes, I’m happy and content today. But again, the hunger is still there, and we are yet to become the most successful franchise in IPL. To become that, we have to win the trophy three more times. You have to work really hard to win it thrice. So, the next mission is – if we can make KKR the best-ever team – there is no better feeling than that,” Gambhir said further.
Amid all kinds of rumours, KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan has gone on record to claim that he wants Gambhir with the franchise for the next 10 years.
