Germany squad: Toni Kroos back; Beier, Pavlovic get maiden call to take on France, Netherlands
Julian Nagelsmann included veteran Toni Kroos in the squad for Germany’s upcoming fixtures against France and the Netherlands while handing maiden international call-ups to Maximilian Beier and Aleksandar Pavlovic.
The squad for the upcoming international friendlies were declared on Thursday evening. Familiar names including Kai Havertz, Jamal Musiala, Antonio Rudiger and Ilkay Gundogan featured in the Die Mannschaft squad alongside Manuel Neuer and Marc-Ander ter Stegan.
34-year-old Toni Kroos, who lifted the World Cup in Brazil, had recently made his decision to come out of international retirement. Real Madrid’s experienced campaigner decided to rejoin the national team at a time when the European powerhouse is struggling over a string of bad results ahead of the Euro Cup on home soil.
2002-born forward Maximilian Beier is part of Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim, while 19-year-old Aleksandar Pavlovic is a CDM in Bayern Munich ranks.
Germany will first take on Kylian Mbappe-led France on March 24 at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium before meeting the Dutch at Frabkfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park on March 27.
